Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Contagua collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application and related services (the “Service”). Contagua operates the Service for users in Mexico.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: your name and email address, provided either directly or through a third-party authentication provider (Apple, Google) when you sign in.
- Meter and property association: when you link your account to a residential water meter, we associate your account with the meter identifier and its registered service address. The address is not entered by you but is inherently linked to the meter you are authorized to access.
- Water consumption data: meter readings and historical consumption associated with the meters linked to your account.
- Billing and purchase information: when you make in-app purchases, Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive transaction confirmation and subscription status, but not your full payment card details.
- Usage and diagnostic information: app feature usage, performance metrics, crash logs, device type, operating system version, and app version.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide and maintain the Service, including showing consumption data for meters linked to your account.
- To authenticate you and manage your account.
- To process in-app purchases and manage subscriptions.
- To improve reliability, performance, and product experience.
- To communicate with you about your account, purchases, service changes, and support requests.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations under Mexican law, including the Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares (LFPDPPP).
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Authentication providers (Apple, Google) when you choose to sign in with them.
- App store and payment processors (Apple, Google) for in-app purchases.
- Infrastructure and service providers that help us host the platform, deliver notifications, provide analytics, and support customer service, under appropriate confidentiality and data protection commitments.
- Water utility partners or meter operators as necessary to associate your account with your meter and retrieve consumption data.
- Authorities or third parties when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Contagua or its users.
4. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations under Mexican law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
5. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Under Mexican law (LFPDPPP), you have ARCO rights: the right to Access, Rectify, Cancel, or Object to the processing of your personal data. You may also:
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data directly from within the app, under Account Settings. Account deletion requests are processed within a reasonable timeframe, subject to legal retention obligations.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us through the app and we will take steps to delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app, and update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Contact
For privacy-related inquiries, or to exercise your ARCO rights, please contact us through the in-app support option.
